- Famco 430-series flexible liners: seam splits at the corrugation peaks. We see this most often on Long Beach homes with oil burners that run hot and cycle constantly through the winter. The stainless work-hardens at the high points of the corrugation, and after eight to twelve years, hairline cracks open. The fix is usually a full liner replacement rather than a patch, because once one seam lets go, the neighboring seams aren’t far behind.
- Famco rigid 316L sections: corrosion at the lower flue, right above the appliance collar. In Long Beach’s salt air, the steel in this zone never fully dries between burns. The lower two to three feet pings with rust, while the upper section looks fine. We can often replace just the damaged bottom section and leave the rest of the liner alone, saving you the cost of a full run.
